At East Newark Public School, we are committed to providing every child with the academic, emotional, and social support they need to thrive. Our Student Support Services team works collaboratively to ensure that all students—whether they need enrichment, intervention, or individualized care—are met with compassion, structure, and high expectations.

We offer a comprehensive Gifted & Talented Program that identifies and supports students who demonstrate exceptional academic and creative abilities. In accordance with New Jersey Department of Education guidelines, the program provides enrichment opportunities and differentiated instruction to help students reach their fullest potential.

Our district takes bullying prevention seriously. In compliance with the New Jersey Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights, all reports of harassment, intimidation, or bullying (HIB) are promptly investigated. We are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive school climate through education, intervention, and restorative practices.

Students experiencing homelessness are protected under the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. East Newark ensures that these students receive immediate school enrollment, transportation services, and access to school meals and academic support—regardless of housing status.

Our Special Services department supports students with disabilities through a full continuum of individualized education and related services. The Child Study Team works closely with families and educators to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and accommodations that meet each student’s unique learning needs.

Mental health and emotional well-being are also a priority at East Newark. Our School Psychologist and School Counselor provide suicide prevention education, early identification of emotional challenges, and confidential support services to students in need.

To meet the diverse academic and behavioral needs of our students, we utilize a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This framework includes Tier 1 high-quality instruction and universal supports for all students, Tier 2 targeted small-group interventions, and Tier 3 intensive individualized interventions. Our I&RS Coordinator, Reading Specialist, and Principal collaborate to regularly review student progress and implement responsive support plans.

For more information about any of these services, please contact the school office at (973) 481-6800.
