The East Newark Board of Education is a Type II school district, governed by a nine-member board elected directly by voters of the borough. Board members serve staggered three-year terms and work collaboratively to set district policies, approve the annual budget, and ensure that all students receive a thorough and efficient education in accordance with state and federal law.
The Board’s responsibilities include establishing goals, setting curriculum standards, hiring and evaluating the superintendent, and overseeing the district’s financial and educational operations. As representatives of the community, board members are committed to supporting student achievement, fiscal responsibility, and equity for all learners.
Regular public meetings are held to encourage transparency, invite community input, and ensure accountability. Residents are encouraged to attend meetings and participate in the decision-making process.
