Welcome to East Newark Public School. We are proud to serve a diverse PreK–8 community through a single-school district focused on academic excellence, equity, and whole-child development. As active partners in your child’s education, we are committed to fostering strong communication with families, providing accessible resources, and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

To support our families, we offer a wide range of resources throughout the school year. Our Activities Calendar is updated regularly and includes key school-wide events, holidays, e, and school programs. Grade-specific Classroom Supply Lists are published each summer to help families prepare for the school year by outlining essential classroom materials. The Student Code of Conduct, detailed in our Parent & Student Handbook (available in both English and Spanish), outlines school rules, behavioral expectations, disciplinary procedures, and student rights. Families are expected to review and follow these policies with their children.

Our Food Service Program provides nutritious meals daily, with menus designed to meet USDA guidelines. Students who qualify may receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Information about meal applications and menus can be found on our food services page.

As we integrate 21st-century skills into our classrooms, East Newark has adopted a Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Acceptable Use Plan, which outlines responsible, supervised, and ethical use of AI tools in learning environments.

The district also supports student learning through digital tools and technology platforms. The Genesis SIS Parent Portal allows families to view student grades, attendance, and report cards, while the Genesis SIS Student Login provides students with access to schedules, assignments, and academic records. These tools are supported by our Technology Manual, available in both English and Spanish, which provides guidance on responsible device use, internet safety, and digital citizenship.

East Newark participates in a variety of state and district assessments, including the NJSLA, ACCESS for ELLs, CogAT, and I-Ready. These assessments help us measure academic growth and guide instruction. Families receive timely updates on assessment dates and will be provided with score reports as they become available.

All of the above resources, including the handbook, technology guidelines, calendar, and acceptable use policies, are available for download in both English and Spanish.

At East Newark Public School, we follow a clear chain of communication to ensure that parent and student concerns are addressed quickly and effectively. If you have a concern or question, please follow these steps in order:

  1. Classroom Teacher: If the issue is related to academics, classroom behavior, or a specific assignment, contact your child’s teacher first.

  2. Case Manager / Child Study Team: If your child has an IEP or receives special education services, reach out to their case manager for support.

  3. School Counselor or School Nurse: If the concern involves mental health, physical health, attendance, or overall well-being, these staff members are available to assist.

  4. Supervisor of Special Services: For special services coordination, student supports, or ongoing behavioral concerns.

  5. Principal/Superintendent: For unresolved issues or building-wide matters.

  6. Board of Education: If the concern is not resolved after following all previous steps, parents may reach out to the East Newark Board of Education by contacting the Board Secretary.

Following this step-by-step process ensures the fastest resolution and the most direct support.
